Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin - Faculty of Life Sciences

Certificate

At the end of the doctoral studies, the Graduate Centre issues a certificate which serves as proof of the courses and events attended by the doctoral student. Also courses and events which have not been organized by the Graduate Centre can be certified.

The attendance in a course in Good Scientific Practice is needed for the issuing of this certificate.

The certificate is not a prerequisite for initiation of the doctoral degree procedure. Rather, it serves as proof of the subject-specific and general qualifications obtained by the doctoral student during his/her doctoral studies.
Doctoral candidates for whom attendance of certain courses was compulsory according to the supervision agreement must provide proof of this upon submission of the thesis.

In order to issue the certificate at the end of the doctoral degree programme, all evidence of attendance at the courses and events to be certified must be submitted electronically (scanned) to the Graduate Centre coordinator. Evidence may be:

  • a certificate of attendance issued after the course/event.
  • signature of the lecturer (or another authorised person) on a record of attendance.
