2020/01/20 | Wolf Prize awarded to Prof. Dr. Emmanuelle Charpentier

The Wolf Prize 2020 in the field of medicine was awarded to the HU scientist Prof. Dr. Emmanuelle Charpentier. The scientist received the prize for her research in the field of RNA-mediated regulation using the CRISPR/Cas system. This technique serves as a basis for the targeted modification of genes.

The Wolf Prize, which has been awarded to researchers and artists since 1978, is given for "services to the benefit of humanity and friendly relations between peoples". In the natural sciences, the prize is one of the most prestigious prizes in the world after the Nobel Prize.
