You can extend ongoing completion periods for term papers, portfolios, essays, multimedia and similar final module examinations as well as for final theses, as long as you request this from the relevant Examination Board (using the appropriate form) and can demonstrate you have valid grounds for doing so. If the reason for extension is accepted by the Examination Board, the extension will be granted. If your application is not accepted, the original submission date will apply. The application must be submitted in writing to your Examination Office as soon as you become aware of the circumstances in question. Please note that appropriate evidence must be attached to the application. Decisions regarding the extension of final module examinations and theses are not made by the examiners or supervisors.

Please note that, in the event of illness, you must provide certified confirmation of your inability to sit the examination (i.e. not your inability to work).

Please also bear in mind that, in the case of degree programmes of the Thaer-Institute (Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences), there is a maximum length of time by which the completion period for theses may be extended. This amounts to half of the thesis completion period specified in the study and examination regulations.
