Summer School 2026

From Lab to Public: Mastering Science Communication
26.06.-29.06.2026, Berlin & Blossin
As Master students and doctoral researchers, you are continuously learning how to do research, plan and conduct experiments, collect or analyze data. One essential, but often overlooked aspect of being a researcher is science communication: explaining your research project and results to others. It starts with your colleagues and supervisor(s), later on expands to members of the broader scientific community and maybe at some point also to the general public.
How to synthesize information without omitting important aspects of it, how to talk and write in a clear and concise way about your project, how to convince others that your research topic is important – these are critical science communication skills we will work on and evolve during the summer school.
Improving your communication skills is essential not only for your daily life as a scientist, but also for your future career, both in academia or elsewhere. So get started and join our 3rd edition of the GCA Summer School - we are looking forward to your applications!
Over three days in a friendly and informal atmosphere, you'll have the opportunity to:
• Gain insights and inspiration from experienced scientists.
• Improve your science communication skills in interactive sessions.
• Explore your career options in and outside academia.
• Network with peers from across the natural sciences.
“I was so delighted joining this summer school. This was such a refreshment
and enrichment [...]. Enthusiasm in group activity and sharing views not only about research
but also career development complete the four-day activity.
Keep it up for the following years!“
