Third-party funding applications: Opportunities and programmes after the PhD


If you intend to pursue a scientific career after your PhD, you should carefully plan where you can apply for third-party funding. Anne Karczewski and Dr. Christoph Raiser of the HU-Research Service Centre provided an overview of the relevant programmes offered by national funding institutions, the federal government and foundations followed by a discussion.

High Brightness Electron Beams group at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin


Dr. Sonal Mistry, a scientist from the High Brightness Electron Beams group ( at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB), gave an overview of her research areas: Photocathode Research & Development for Electron Accelerators. The focus of her activities is to understand correlations between cathode material, preparation, treatment and electron beam parameters such as transverse emittance, which is linked to the brightness of the beam generated with the SRF photoinjector.
