WiNS-Mentoring - Success in Tandem

Mentoring offers the opportunity to strategically plan the next steps on one's own career path and to gain first hand knowledge about other career paths in science. The participants are accompanied by an experienced mentor for one year. Throughout the year, they will gain insights into working methods and relevant research fields, as well as on questions for a better balance between work and private life. At regular meetings, the participants have the opportunity to sharpen their own goals, to plan upcoming decisions and to discuss the implementation, and last but not least, expand the network of contacts.

The next round of mentoring begins in January 2020. Send us your application before November 15th, 2019.

How does mentoring work?

After selecting the applicants, the project coordinator looks for a suitable mentor from the university and scientific community. Of course, applicants can make suggestions regarding the choice of a mentor. At the kick-off event in January all mentees get to know each other. Afterwards, the respective mentor/mentee pairs meet at individual appointments, either in person, via Skype or by telephone. Regular lunch meetings offer the opportunity to meet the other mentees and at the end there will be a final event. All events are being held in English!

Who can participate?
Female doctoral students and postdocs at the Adlershof campus and at participating research centres can participate in the WiNS mentoring.

When does the next round begin?
The next round will take place from January 2020 to December 2020. Participation in the kick-off event, the intermediate reflection and the final event are compulsory.

Deadline for applications: November 15th, 2019
