Mentoring offers the opportunity to strategically plan the next steps on one's own career path and to gain first hand knowledge about other career paths in science. The participants are accompanied by an experienced mentor for one year. Throughout the year, they will gain insights into working methods and relevant research fields, as well as on questions for a better balance between work and private life. At regular meetings, the participants have the opportunity to sharpen their own goals, to plan upcoming decisions and to discuss the implementation, and last but not least, expand the network of contacts.

How does mentoring work?
After selecting the applicants, the project coordinator looks for a suitable mentor from the university and scientific community. Of course, applicants can make suggestions regarding the choice of a mentor. At the kick-off event in April all mentees get to know each other. Afterwards, the respective mentor/mentee pairs meet at individual appointments, either in person, by video calls or phone. Regular lunch time meetings (if necessary virtually) offer the opportunity to meet the other mentees and discuss topics related to career development. All events are being held in English!

Who can participate?
Female doctoral candidates and postdocs at the Adlershof campus and at related research centres can participate in the WINS mentoring.

When does the next round begin?
The next round will beginn in October 2024. Participation in the kick-off event and the final event are compulsory.
