SALSA Make and Measure

Each year, SALSA organizes its academic event Make and Measure, with interesting discussion sessions, lectures, poster sessions, and get-togethers. It has been very popular with both guests and SALSA members for years now.

Currently the SALSA Fellows are still seeking support by other PhD students who will be part of two public discussion rounds with two of the guests. Interested? Apply /inquire at by June 27 and have your research project supported by a short term grant from SALSA!

Everyone is warmly invited to present a flash (probably 5-7 min) talk about their research (no posters this year). We hope that we will have as many people presenting and meeting as possible at the conference! Simply register and submit a title and co-authors.

SALSA's next Make and Measure will take place on September 15-17, 2022

Make and Measure 2022: Communicating Make and Measure

To measure is to know… How do we communicate what we know? What impact do our data have on society? How can transfer of knowledge happen in the framework of 'open science'? What is collaboration, and who owns ideas? What is novelty? Our ongoing discussion of these and other questions will be deepened by members, guests, and friends of SALSA at this year’s Make and Measure. The discussion will form the framework for three days of exchange about your research in the Analytical Sciences and social interaction, in a hybrid format, live at HU in Adlershof and online.

The following guests have confirmed their participation in the discussion:

Lothar Wieler (Robert Koch Institute Berlin)

Jessica Wade (Imperial College London)

Tijana Prodanović (University of Belgrade)

Erik Krogh (Vancouver Island University)

Hans Hennig von Grünberg (University of Potsdam)

Gunda Köllensperger (University of Vienna)

Registration for participation and flash presentations will be open here soon! Check back!
