17.09.2024 Information event "The Nagoya Protocol and its legal consequences"

The Graduate Center Life Sciences cordially invites all doctoral candidates of the Faculty of Life Sciences to an information event on the Nagoya Protocol.

The Nagoya Protocol is an agreement under international law that aims to ensure fair benefit-sharing with countries of origin of genetic materials of animal and plant origin. Since 2014, EU Regulation 511/2014 has required all researchers to prove that they have permission from the countries of origin to conduct research with genetic materials or traditional knowledge relating to these materials. Research may only be conducted with the materials or on traditional knowledge once the countries of origin have given their consent.

Failure to comply with the Nagoya Protocol can result in penalties ranging from fines to the withdrawal of publications!

Further information can be found on the HU website and on the intranet.

When?: 17 September 2024 from 1 to 2 pm
