Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and other Berlin institutions offer a range of subject-specific and generell further education and training to doctoral candidates. Please visit the respective websites to find out about the courses currently on offer.
Funding of participation fee
Many of the workshops and events offered by the institutions listed here are free of charge for doctoral candidates of the Faculty of Life Sciences. If you would like to attend a workshop that is not offered as part of the existing collaborations, you can apply to the Graduate Centre for reimbursement of the participation costs incurred. Please use the following form to apply:

Offers of the Graduate Centre Life Sciences
The Graduate Centre offers a range of subject-specific and general further education and training to all doctoral candidates who received their admission to do their doctoral studies at the Faculty of Life Sciences of Humboldt-Universität. Participation in the workshops is free of charge.

- 01 and 02 September 2025: Workshop "Scientific Writing in Natural and Life Sciences"
- 06 - 10 October 2025: Intensive Writing Week
Nature Masterclasses on-demand courses
Doctoral candidates of the Faculty of Life Sciences have the opportunity to obtain personalised licences to use the Nature Masterclasses on-demand platform. Please ask Dr Julia Klauder, coordinator of the Graduate Centre, about the availability of a licence.
Even without a personal license, two high-quality and highly relevant Nature Masterclasses courses are available to you free of charge for self-study:
Providers within the HU and the Berlin University Alliance
Doctoral candidates at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin are eligible to attend workshops and events organised by the Berlin University Alliance. Participation is usually free of charge. The same applies to numerous offers provided by other institutions at Hmboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Please check the websites of the respective institutions for information about current offers:
